La educación superior se enfrenta cada día a importantes desafíos. Un mundo cada vez más globalizado y un mercado laboral cada vez más exigente.
Nuevas necesidades surgen en la sociedad del conocimiento y obligan a las universidades a adaptarse y dar respuesta a una oferta académica realmente pertinente e innovadora.
En este escenario, el rol del docente y del propio estudiante también ha evolucionado. El uso de las tics, la digitalización de gran parte de los procesos académicos y el progresivo e imparable avance de la virtualización de la educación, exigen que los diversos actores de la comunidad educativa estén abiertos de forma permanente, a la autogestión del conocimiento y sobre todo a la alfabetización digital.
