Abstract

Christian churches around the world are suffering from a crisis of multiple causes ranging from the moral to the doctrinal with the contemporary world.  Lack of parishioners in all parts of the world has caused the closure of hundreds of parishes and missions everywhere.  On the other hand, during our times, the Church is not attractive to young people at all and this is reflected when we attend a congregation to participate in some worship and we see the population that attends it, the great absentee is the youth.  That is why it is necessary to explore a new model of parish that responds to the needs of our people committed to change.  That option and our proposal for the Church of the 21st century are parishes based on the model of small basic ecclesial communities (BECs).
