Abstract
This article addresses the importance of promoting a research culture in the educational system, especially in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). It highlights that educational research is fundamental for the advancement and continuous improvement of education, providing knowledge and evidence that supports educational decisions and practices. Promoting a research culture involves fostering curiosity, critical thinking and systematic inquiry in all actors involved in education. Furthermore, educational research strengthens the professional development of teachers, promotes the formation of critical and reflective citizens, and contributes to academic excellence in HEIs. Research teachers play a crucial role in shaping the research agenda, mentoring colleagues, and students, and incorporating research findings into teaching. The article highlights the importance of recognizing and rewarding the contributions of teacher researchers to improve the quality of education. Training is proposed as a practical way to support teachers in developing effective research skills.
