Abstract
This article presents the results of a quantitative research whose objective is to analyze sustainable urban planning and its application with principles of social equity, economic efficiency and environmental sustainability of territorial planning for urban development in Panama. A survey will be applied taking into consideration the elements of the methodology and the research problem, seeking to measure the considerations of those consulted. One of the most relevant results was the fourteenth item referring to the respondents' opinion on whether sustainable urban planning has effectively addressed the challenge of climate change, implementing mitigation and adaptation measures to reduce the vulnerability of cities and communities, of the 79 participants, 34% indicated disagreement, 35% neutral, 18% agreed and 13% strongly agreed. These figures suggest that there is some skepticism and lack of conviction among the officials surveyed about the effectiveness of mitigation and adaptation measures implemented in the context of sustainable urban planning to reduce the vulnerability of cities and communities to the effects of climate change. Finally, it is recommended that it is important to reinforce mitigation and adaptation measures to climate change. This includes the promotion of sustainable infrastructure and the implementation of concrete actions to face this environmental challenge.
