Abstract

The main purpose of Occupational Health and Safety is to ensure the safety of workers in the work area and thus minimize the problems that may arise. One of the most common problems within the construction sector is related to the appearance of diseases, such as dermatitis, a product of contact with exogenous agents such as cement. This article focuses on determining the causes and effects of contact dermatitis from cement exposure in construction workers of the dreams of Santiago Project, the Reserve, whose established objectives were to identify the relationship between exposure to cement in the workers in the construction sector and the appearance of contact dermatitis and determine the factors involved in the prevalence of contact dermatitis due to exposure to cement, the research methodology was descriptive since its purpose is the analysis of the situation presented. in the company; based on analysis of data and studies on cement contact dermatitis in construction workers; The results obtained were that 5% are under 25 years old, 20% are between 25 and 30 years old, 40% are between 30 and 40 years old and there are 35% over 40 years old, in terms of years of work in the construction sector, 5% have less than 5 years, 10% between 5 and 10 years, 30% between 10 and 15 years, 25% between 15 and 20 years and the remaining 30% more than 20 years, Regarding whether they have presented health problems in recent years, 60% say that they have, there is 40% who say no, in relation to the use of cement, there are 80% of those surveyed who use it frequently, only 20% of the workers do not have frequent contact with this agent, 90% of the surveyed workers have suffered skin problems at some point, 10% say they have not presented problems, then 90% stated that it is important to establish a prevention program to reduce health problems, later 100% of the workers assure that it is important to make changes for protection when carrying out their activities, the results were obtained with the application of data analysis with the SPSS STATISTIC 23 software to give a decision to reject or accept the hypotheses; Based on the statistical results, it was concluded to reject the null hypothesis and determine that there is a strong relationship between contact dermatitis and exposure to cement and demonstrated a statistically positive and significant relationship.
