Overdose and poisoning: Causes, consequences and prevention

Abstract
This article, titled “Overdose and Poisoning: causes, consequences, and prevention methods,” covers areas such as the identification of acute and chronic poisonings, antidotes, treatments in clinical toxicology, and postmortem analysis methods used to determine the cause of death. A bibliographic search was conducted using reliable sources to demonstrate the differences between acute and chronic poisonings, evaluate antidotes and treatments in clinical toxicology, and describe postmortem analysis methods used to determine the cause of death. It was determined that early intervention and the appropriate use of antidotes, such as naloxone and acetylcysteine, are crucial for the effective management of these events. In short, the importance of education and updated protocols to prevent future cases in all populations at all ages was highlighted.
