Abstract

With the constant advance of technology in the health field, it is important to understand how these advances have influenced the daily work and efficiency of medical records personnel. Interviews were conducted with health professionals, medical technology specialists and medical records personnel at different health centers in Chiriquí. In addition, information was gathered from secondary sources, such as government reports and scientific publications related to the subject.Firstly, the implementation of electronic systems in medical records has allowed greater efficiency in the storage, access and retrieval of information. This has streamlined medical care processes, improving the quality of services and reducing patient waiting time. However, this technological advancement has posed a challenge for medical records personnel. New tasks and responsibilities have arisen, such as the management of specialized computer systems and the constant updating of information technology skills. In addition, skills in analyzing and managing large volumes of data have been required, as well as increased attention to the privacy and security of medical information. In terms of the impact on personnel, there has been a decrease in the workload related to manual and repetitive tasks, which has freed up time for more specialized and higher value-added activities. However, some staff members have experienced difficulties in adapting to technological changes and have required additional training.
