Impacto de la Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 en el adulto mayor en la provincia de Veraguas en el año 2023

Abstract

Diabetes is a broad topic, as there are various types of this disease. The purpose of this article is to provide effective recommendations for the prevention and control of type 2 diabetes mellitus in older adults, with the goal of promoting measures and activities that enable a healthy lifestyle. Key methods include maintaining a healthy lifestyle by complementing a balanced diet with regular exercise, as well as proper monitoring and control of insulin administration. Diagnosing diabetes in people over the age of 70 requires a careful and precise approach to ensure early detection and proper management of the disease. In addition to laboratory tests, such as the hemoglobin A1c test, which measures the average blood glucose level over the past three months, there are other essential tests that help confirm the diagnosis and better understand the metabolic health of older patients. In conclusion, diabetes is a disease that can be managed with a good diagnosis and proper management. Alternatives, such as keeping blood glucose levels within a target range and following a proper diet, are crucial to improving the quality of life for older adults.
