Abstract
The quality of care for individuals aged 65 and above within the realm of healthcare presents itself as a pivotal and challenging concern, given their escalating proportion in society. The elongation of life expectancy, a result of advancements in medicine and improved living conditions, has led to a surge in the elderly population, necessitating comprehensive attention. This care must not only address medical necessities but also social and psychological needs, advocating for healthy health practices and lifestyles. Over the past five years, technological progress has made a significant impact on caring for this demographic. Virtual consultations have been introduced, enabling more accessible care, along with health tracking via smart devices and improved medical alert systems that provide greater safety for the elderly within their residences. Nonetheless, it is crucial to acknowledge that several seniors might encounter challenges in navigating these technologies due to vision impairments, short and long-term memory loss, and physical limitations like arthritis, emphasizing the significance of providing suitable training and support to ensure effective use of these tools. The rapid evolution of technology and the increasing digitization of healthcare have revolutionized the way we engage with health services. However, it is imperative that this technological progress does not exclude any segment of society, particularly the elderly. To confront this challenge, public and private institutions must actively collaborate to guarantee that the elderly benefit from these technological advancements and do not lag behind in this digital era. It comes down to it, healthcare for people aged 65 and older must adapt to the changing needs of this burgeoning population. This involves considering demographic, health and technological factors to ensure that all people, regardless of age, have access to quality care that promotes their well-being and quality of life.
