Abstract
The purpose of this article is to raise the problem that exists regarding the inadequate management of the crime scene in Panama, by the security forces that arrive as first responders, it aims to make known the importance of care and protection of a crime scene once it has been found. To carry it out, technological tools were used such as Google School, magazines, literature and websites. Knowledge of the various procedures for the protection of the chain of custody and the role played by the preservation of the crime scene is essential, because if it is not properly handled, the evidence can suffer alterations or contamination, compromising the crime scene to a large extent. . the integrity of the evidence collected. That is why the poor acquisition of knowledge about the procedures in the police units, as the first responder, can cause the alteration and/or contamination of the site of the incident, so that the lack of considerable training about the preservation and protection . of the crime scene, which leads to inadequate management of said procedures, in each part or situation of the chain of custody system, in accordance with the criminal procedure code in Panama. However, like many other countries, we face certain challenges related to the protection of crime scenes, and it is nothing more than the lack of both physical and technological resources, as well as coordination between the different competent authorities.
